Finding the right local contractor for building and remodeling in MN, Green building and Energy Star rated products, referred Minnesota contractors, working with the community.

WORKING WITH THE COMMUNITY

Now more than ever, you need to know just who you are dealing with when it comes to remodeling your home or building a new one. As the housing market has slowed way down you need to take the time to make sure you have selected the right contractor or subcontractor to work with.

This is actually a very good time to remodel as some of the top contractors in the area are now available to take on your remodeling project. Even though new home starts are off, there is still a demand for quality housing that is affordable along with unique high-end homes that offer uncompromised character, style and energy efficiency. It’s a good time to build, look into “Green Building” and Energy Star rated products, but most important, make sure you are working with the right contractor.

Ask for references and take the time to actually call these people and find out what kind of experience they had with the contractor and how well he communicated with them during the process. Don’t make the mistake of hiring just anyone that gives you a low bid, it’s worth paying the price to have it done right, quality doesn’t cost…it pays!

There have been a lot of contractors who have started up during the past building boom and not all of them are going to be around in the future. Choose a company that has deep roots in the community and a strong track record of service to their clients.

Stay away from companies that are from out of the area with deals to good to be true, because you know what they say about that. Check to make sure your contractor is licensed and insured for the work that they will be doing and ask what kind of warranty they offer to backup their workmanship.

Support the local contractors who have paid to provide you with this free reference book that covers information for just about every phase of residential building. I have worked with many of these same contractors for years and most of them I know through their involvement in the builders association.

My personal involvement in the local builders association has spanned over 14 years and I have sponsored and retained over 150 businesses who have become members. I have personally met with each business owner or key employees from all the companies involved in this publication and found that not only did they perform quality work, but they were also better at communicating and following through with their commitments.

This book offers a wide range of talented professionals from right here in our community who are eager to earn your business. Tell them that you found them here in
